A really great, fabulous book!

When it comes to romance, Space in His Heart delivers it at the very best. I fell in love with commander Deke Stockard at first sight, with the way he's strong, bright, so funny, and just witty. When he first meets Jessica, their dialogue flows in a way that is so sexy sparks fly, which creates the best thing about the book: the chemistry between them. Their initial animosity soon grows into work partnership, then friendship and... something else? And that's what you can't stop reading to find out.

And, Deke's an astronaut. Does it get any sexier that? He's responsible for the safety procedures for the launch of the Endeavour, the next shuttle to go up to the stars. But all of a sudden, due to his super model good looks and bone-melting smile, they decide Deke should take some time aside from shuttle safety to work on... NASA publicity. Which he finds to be a big bother, of course. But, as he starts to work with Jess, and grow fond of her, and their friendship (and chemistry!) develop, the task becomes less and less of a burden...

Except... there are issues with the shuttle launch. Why? How? And... who? Deke needs to make sure the Astronauts who'll go out in the space will come back home safe and sound. That's suspense, right there. Though Roxanne St. Claire ventures out of her bodyguards and FBI Agents with this book, she stands by the suspense and the absolute need to keep reading and reading because you just have to know what's going to happen next.

Space in his Heart is a fabulous book, by an amazing author and I recommend it to everyone who loves a great, funny, sexy love story!

Get Ready for Blast Off!

I'm a big fan of anything space -- Apollo 13, The Right Stuff -- and Space in His Heart combines it with another of my favorites...romance. Deke doesn't disappoint as a hero, all alpha all the way. When the former jet jockey turned rocket man is grounded to work with Jess, a PR maven, sparks start to fly. If you love snappy dialog, you'll love this book. But when a threat to the shuttle program occurs, they have to work together to save the day. Space, romance, and suspense. What's not to love?

Fun & accurate!

I love rockets and astronauts. I don't really read romance novels but I had to buy this one because of the space topic. Specially with that cover of hunk astronaut Deke Stockard. To be honest I bought it expecting it to be a cheesy novel, but I was wrong...

I was really impressed at the accuracy regarding NASA related topics (although it's fiction and some things just go well with the plot) and enjoyed that people could be learning about our country's space program while reading a romantic novel! I bought one for me and one for my other space junkie friend and we talked about this book for days.

Fave scene: Jessica and Deke inspect his T-38 together and talk about the sexiness of the plane, then Deke takes off and starts doing some crazy acrobatics and the co-pilot says: "What are you doing?" He responds: "I'm flirting." *sigh*

He had details on the failed Bay of Pigs invasion, the nuclear missiles under Cuban control aimed at the landing beaches, the deceptive and incomplete missile withdrawal from Cuba, faulty Jupiter ICBMs, and other matters. The remuneration was upped to $150,000. Perhaps in a manner similar to Pattie Hearst or even the Manson family, Smith was eventually successful in turning his charge. The young man, alone with no other resources or compatriots, became convinced the entire U.S. intelligence community was behind his efforts. The author and Smith traveled to Dallas in early November, linking up with Lee Harvey Oswald, also recruited by Smith. The journal has now been reviewed in detail by Sixty Minutes, a number of Kennedy assassination experts, from a noted “dream team” attorney to forensic pathologists, autopsy experts and others who appeared before the Warren Commission. No flaw has been found in the work, which presents, in the view of most experts, a more acceptable version of the actual assassination than the Warren Commission. There is an appendix of exhibits supporting the manuscript, including an airplane ticket, Soviet weapon with serial number, passport identification, license tags and other material. Perhaps as telling as the detailed information and photographs furnished, as provoking as the scrutiny of assassination experts, the journal is an understated, poignant account, a haunting memoir by an anonymous author with no wish to surface. It is as spellbinding as Day of the Jackal.

Fiction- and not very good fiction!

This work was written, I believe, by someone who had bits of information about JFK's assassination (easliy obtained by reading a few books on the subject and maybe watching a TV documentary or two) and a so- so imagination, combined with mediocre literary skills. I believe that JFK died as a result of a conspiracy and that Lee Oswald did not fire a rifle on Nov 22,1963. But this 'first person shooter account' just does not come across as authentic. I gave up even attempting to believe his story after reading his account of the subsequent to recruit the author to assassnate Bobby Kennedy. This book is, in my opinion, a waste of time and money.

B movie script?

No wonder the book was written by anonymous. It reads like a B movie plot It appears to have been written by someone who has reviewed most but not all of the available assassination research. The author makes the same mistake James Files (Confessions of the Assassin) and Ricky White (The Roscoe White story - I Was Mandarin) did. Filling the pages with easily procured technical information does not counter the unsubstantiated claims about events that have been shown to be historically inaccurate.
If you believe extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof - you will not find it here.

A nice work of fiction

Since seeing the very revealing Zapuder Film for the first time, I have been searching for some sort of confirmation of the second gunman. This book is not that confirmation. Anyone capable of pulling together research could have put "The Man on the Grassy Knoll" together. I cannot get past the idea that a fresh college graduate with no prior involvement in organized crime or assassinations is the JFK shooter. I found the Mark Lane book, "Rush to Judgement" to provide a much more credible explanation.

World-changer!

Haun celebrates both mind and spirit in recounting his personal evolution from a theistic belief to that of humanism. While the account of his struggle is profoundly moving, his greatest gift is in sharing the sources that shaped his transformation. Haun wrestles with giants, and the reader is the beneficiary. Authors such as Dobzhansky, Dawkins, E.O. Wilson, Lorenz and Sagan are presented along with Durant, Dewey and Paine as the meaning of "truth" in different disciplines is explored. The reader is led to examine his own philosophy - verifying or transforming it so that he can follow Haun's recommendation to "do something worthwhile" in reshaping our world.

What to believe

Haun's book is an honest critique of major religions where they intersect with scientific reason. Wish I had read it years ago. Like Haun, I am a scientist who has labored and loved people who allow their faith in myths to block out what is scientifically defensible. As I read the final chapter, I know I want to keep this but must return it to the friend (autographed copy, and given the book is about ethics I must return it.) I already know I'll be recommending it to friends. And, I may buy a few copies. Enjoy. It is helping me sort out what I believe.

About the Author
Greg Metcalf has taught and fished in beautiful Washington State for over thirty years. During that time his bands have attained many successes and received numerous awards and accolades. His fishing has not reached as high a level but his fish ‘stories’ have come close…..according to his friends. Greg has received "Teacher of the Year" in the Kennewick School District, "Golden Acorn Award" in the Everett School District, and was inducted into the "Hall of Fame" for Washington Music Educators Association and "Hall of Fame" for his alma mater, Pasco High School. His performance history has included Central Washington University's award winning jazz band, under the direction of John Moawad, The Stan Kenton Orchestra, Seattle Symphony, Fifth Avenue and Paramount Theatres, and backing a number of artists including Johnny Matthis, Bernadette Peters, The Temptations, Linda Ronstadt, Barry Manilow, Natalie Cole and others. Teaching has played an important part in Greg's life, but so has Washington State. Whether hiking in the Cascade Mountains or meandering along the Puget Sound, Greg finds contentment in Washington's beauty. His experiences in the classroom and the great outdoors have helped him in penning his tales.

You will laugh until you cry!

This book is a hilarious collection of stories based upon over 30 years experience teaching music. Author Greg Metcalf has a deft (please note that is spelled with an "e", not an "a") sense of humor and is able to provide an intriguing and inciteful glance at the world of a middle school band director. His stories strike chords that will make you laugh until you cry, even if you've never played in a band or had a child in band. If you are a band student,the parent of a band student or a band director, this book is a "must read", if only for the list of excuses it provides (for use by students and for warning to parents and band directors everywhere).

This is a wonderful book! I could see most of these happening in some way...

I would have given this book a score of I, but most people probably don't know that in music a I is SUPERIOR!

But I know that Metcalf would NEVER let his bands sound the way he made them sound.... The only other problem: It ended!

However, homeschooling isn't necessarily for the fainthearted, and Sister Jamila is upfront about it. Homeschooling is rewarding but is certainly a lot of hard work. Being with the kids 24 hours a day, tasked with the responsibility to be the main educational provider over and beyond any institution, is a huge step for any family. It requires commitment, dedication, sacrifices, as well as the innate yearning to please Allah (SWT). Yet, she says, it's a fulfilling one where a parent can cultivate that important relationship with his or her children and learn that lost art of operating as a cohesive family that is focused on pleasing Allah (SWT).
But the icing on this delicious cake is the Unit Studies that Jamila has incorporated into this book. It's not just about the ideas of the Unit Studies (which are really quite brilliant on their own), but how they are so well linked with the Qur'anic descriptions and injunctions that are relevant to the topic. What a great reference for Muslim homeschoolers to hone in on Qur'an-centric education, and even more so - what a great incentive for Muslim homeschoolers to indulge in the Qur'an in such an explorative manner and to impart the same curiosity and love for the Holy Scripture upon our children.
Homeschooling opens many avenues for families to explore options over and beyond a cookie cutter curriculum, and this book exemplifies just that. There are many factors to consider, whether you're just starting out on the homeschooling journey, or if you're in the middle of it; it is good to have a voice of brutal honesty when it comes to taking the plunge into this important avenue, especially when we are striving to make Islam the heart of education.

Maria Zain thought long and hard about starting her homeschooling journey four years back. But with Muslim homeschoolers around the globe increasing, she truly believes in a customised-education for each of her children and hopes to see them through to their teenage years.

A must have for every Muslim homeschooler

I've often wondered how other families have homeschooled and wish to have heard their experiences. Well, this book did just that, it allowed an inside look at many different families with their own dynamics. I enjoyed reading about the experience that parents had with older kids, since my children are still young. The book is filled with real life experiences and lots of practical advice. A must have for parents with young children so that they can benefit from the advice of parents who have already dealt with the changes that puberty may bring. Even parents who don't homeschool should get this book and read the chapter about dealing with teens and pros and cons of public school. Great book. I love it!

Wonderful book! Full of inspiration on the challenges and rewards of raising and teaching our children in a wholesome Muslim household. She includes beautiful dua to say for our children and ourselves as a reminder that Allah is in control of everything.

The author states the essence of her book in the following statement: "I have no regrets. I believe, as many of the other homeschool mothers have said, that all the things you give up mean nothing compared to your child's education and Islamic upbringing."

I highly recommend this book to all parents considering or already homeschooling their kids and in need of encouragement.

Seven At The Sevens is written by WritersAnonymous.org, an extremely diverse writers group. Eclectic and Wonderful

I completely enjoyed this eclectic and wonderful book, which the authors were kind enough to give me when I spoke at Grub Street Writers in Boston this past November. I wouldn't have thought a book grouped around the concept of seven-word observations, poems, stories, and aphorisms would be so engaging, but I would have been wrong about that (and I should have known better, as I suppose you could say the same thing about haiku).

If you love writing, this book will make you feel connected with a passionate and funny (and anonymous, though their bios provide delightful glimpses) group of people who share your love. The illustrations are memorable, and sometimes haunting. The quotes from Steve Jobs, Hemingway, and others will inspire you. I'm indebted to the authors for introducing me to the work of Katherine Mansfield -- her short story The Fly is a magic act. Magic.

A particularly fine read in a favorite coffee shop (mine is Hatou in Tokyo). Also goes with Charlie Haden's American Dream. I hope you'll have as much fun with this slim volume as I did.

This is exactly what a group of writers do as they meet every week at The Seven Pubs, an eating and drinking establishment on Beacon Hill in Boston. The group known as WritersAnonymous have been inspired by Good Gray Ghost, Walt Whitman and the spirit of Ernest Hemingway, and their own burning desires to tell a story in seven words. The culmination of these writings was the publication of their Seven At The Sevens: A Collection of Seven-Word Stories, Memoirs and Poems, which are described as self-contained entities, or as Hemingway believed, only the beginning of something more.

As you savor these succinct musings, you realize how powerful imagery and meaning can turn out to be and , as mentioned in the introduction of this delightful tome, you do not need a lot of words to convey something poignant and powerful. No doubt, readers can be forgiven for being suspicious of a collection of seven word reflections from a group of unknown voices. However, if you automatically assume this of Seven At The Sevens: A Collection of Seven-Word Stories, Memoirs and Poems, you will certainly deprive yourself of a pleasurable reading experience. Just consider some of the following to understand what I am trying to convey and I am sure you will agree that no verbal flab invades the images.

Adding to the collection's charm and cleverly engaging the reader in pondering the penetrating concepts of the texts are the many illustrations contributed by Darren Buchanan and Kathleen Whipple. And not to be left out, the editor also includes a collection of seven-words selected from the not-so-anonymous that were likewise at one time anonymous such as Louisa May Alcott, Neal Cassady, Rebecca Lee Crumplet, E.E. Cummings, Charles Dickens, Emily Dickson, Bob Dylan, Ralph Aldo Emerson, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Robert Frost, Ernest Hemingway, O.Henry and others. It would have been a pity if we had ignored these great writers because they were unknowns.

Extremely Entertaining Collection of Seven Word Stories, Memoirs, and Poems

If you had to summarize your life in seven words, could you do it? Would you give a broad overview or focus on something specific? Think about how difficult it would be to make each word count. Somehow, some way, the folks at Writer's Anonymous have put together an outstanding collection of people who have done just that. Personally, I would have focused on my love of pizza and beer, but the authors of this book have chosen more profound entries. Either way, this is an extremely enjoyable read, and puts life into a different perspective.

Not only do you get a collection of memoirs, but you also get some truly entertaining seven word stories and poems as well. All of this wrapped up in a well designed paperback with a great photo on the cover. How can you go wrong?

I can't recommend this book enough. Be sure to pick up your own copy, because I'm not letting you borrow mine!

Exceptional. This book will wake up any Christian or non-Christian from their daily doldrum and reinvigorate them with a renewed sense of life's purpose. The themes outlined in this book are extremely important and should be meditated on daily, yet sadly, even most Christians fail to think about these concepts on a routine basis. A must read.

Sandra Mashihi is a senior organizational psychologist who manages the executive coaching services with Envisia Learning, Inc. She is an experienced executive coach, inspirational speaker and workshop trainer. Kenneth Nowack is a licensed psychologist (PSY13758) and President/Chief Research Office at Envisia Learning Inc. a leading international provider of leadership assessment products and services. He is a keynote speaker and has authored and published numerous popular assessments including the Emotional Intelligence View 360, Manager View 360, StressScan and Innate Index personality inventory. He is a guest lecturer at the UCLA Anderson School of Management, serves on the editorial board of Consulting Psychology Journal: Practice and Research, and is a member of Daniel Goleman’s Consortium for Research on Emotional Intelligence in Organizations. Should Be Required Reading for All Coaches

Personally, I think this book is mis-titled. It should be called The Must-Have Guide to Coaching Success. Yes, it's tough to coach people who don't get it; but more importantly, this book cuts right to heart of any successful coaching engagement - the need to change behavior. As anyone who has tried to stop smoking, lose weight, control a temper, learn to listen or lead a company knows first hand, achieving and sustaining behavior change is no easy feat. This book shows you how to help your clients vastly improve their record of success.

Authors Sandra Mashihi and Ken Nowack are experts on the art and science of influencing behavior change, having developed a model that is used by executive coaches and consultants worldwide. Now they've packaged this knowledge into a book that is easy to read, full of actionable ideas, and applicable to any type of coaching.

Read it, use the 80+ exercises provided in the book and the website companion, and you'll find your coaching success will soar. I know I did.

The coaching approach, suggestions, ideas, ways ... all is clear and enriched with knowledge, facts, data - and all in good balance with reader's need for tips
and guidance. Beautifully focused and practical support to a work of a coach.

I am delighted and happy and thankful that there are practitioners who share the knowledge in such an easy way...
