Interesting concept, not well developed

I'm a long time alt history fan, and this particular alternate has had very little attention by any writers. BUT: This is not a ten dollar book, it should be in the .99 cents department. A new author, unskilled in the craft, who's errors are so frequent, and often so silly that they disrupt the flow of the story for laughing in disbelief time. He has favorite phrases that keep popping up, usually out of context, that simply drive the reader to distraction. "All-to-typical" is one, usually used to describe the stiff armed salute. People "quip" when deadly serious, all over the book. Ole', or sometimes Ol, Fred, Bill, Hitler, FDR etc...... Endless, endless narrative paragraphs with little dialogue between major players. One bit of sillyness is when Yammamoto exits his plane and the honor guard shouts "bonzi, bonzi" and he is somewhat annoyed by the "jester". Another is even funnier, as Adolph Hitler ends a harrangue of his staff by shouting Heil Hitler!. And his staff shouts it right back at him. Even your and you're appear interchangeable in this endless book. Another funny error is the description of an opinion being "outside his prevue, spelled that way,,, when he intended to say purview. Another time a GI is bayonetted by a Japanese soldier and "slipped into perpetuity" leaving one to wonder if the author means life after death, or that the unfortunate soldier is going to die over and over and over. Another is the used of collaborated instead of Corroborated.
Still another is that after the death of FDR our hero gets a box of reel-to-reel recording tapes of almost all FDR's presidential phone conversations from "all these years" in office. That's 1932 to his death. Recording tape was a WWII invention and FDR could hardly have used then from 1932 to the mid 40's.
The bomb. Both sides are trying to get there first. OK, normal Alt Hist, and even normal reality. But at one point the president and his staff are made aware of the dangers of "EMT", knocking out electrical contact with them, those and everybody else. NOBODY knew about that effect at the time, they didn't even understand the concept of long term radioactivity prior to dropping bombs on Japan. And if Slizard did at least suspect it he did not use the letters EMT.
The concept was a good one, the writer isn't. It's another object lession in the value of proof readers. I'm not one, but I worked with several of them on and off over many years, and I know what they are capable of. Even employing a proof reader for two or three hours would have greatly improved this book.

Good Read.

This is an exciting book that I found hard to put down. There are a few historical inaccuracies ("VMF" does not stand for "Volunteer Marine Flyers", General Groves' name is misspelled, and the U-234 sub carried uranium oxide, not processed uranium 235).
That said, it is a fun book and well worth the price and read time.

Needs lots of editing

This is a good story but suffers from numerous typos and technical inaccuracies. The final editing seems amateurish and careless. These prove to be a major distraction from enjoying an otherwise good tale.
