About the Author
Donna has always been interested in metaphysics, philosophy and spiritual development, recognizing life's larger purpose and the necessity for growth and transformation.
While on an educational and spiritual retreat in Arizona, Donna was introduced to the concept of "energy healing" - the belief that a healing energy exists within the human body and mind - which left Donna much to contemplate about our physical existence on this planet. It was the beginning of a journey that would change her life forever...
Months later, Donna became ill and was desperate to get well. As she drifted off to sleep one night, she remembered her experience in Arizona, and knew there must be a way for her to heal herself. In that exact moment, her mind flooded with the vivid descriptions of each of her seven amazing characters. The Healers would be young teachers of mankind, born to spread a message of hope, love, and healing to humanity. The next morning, Donna felt deeply compelled to begin writing their story. Each day that followed, she moved closer and closer toward perfect health.

Alot of potential missing
By Nancy Gillis
While another of many special teens save the world from greedy or clueless adults, it misses the mark. The first chapters held my attention as the premise of "chakra" power-filled teens doing great good against an evil power striving to prevent any great level of healing (physical, spiritual, emotional, ecological) to take place in the world. Then it began to fall apart. The evil entity appears out of nowhere with no background. Extremely impoverished Indian slum child is able to fly to another country with no explanations of where these funds come from - similar missing vital information occurs throughout the book. The ending is breathlessly action-packed with little sense of plausibility. My teen readers often commented "Yeah, right!" Again, the premise is fascinating and has great potential, but Labermeier has missed the opportunity.

Sigh
By ALakatos
This book could have been so good. The idea is so unique, and I was hooked for the first nine chapters. I loved the characters and their little stories. After that first half though, it just got, for lack of a better word, dumb.
It's like the author remembered that the story was supposed to have a mentor and a villain so she threw them all in without really thinking about it.
I also didn't think it was written very well. I wasn't a fan of all the italics and exclamation points. The pacing was something else I wasn't too fond of. Was I the only one who thought the book went by really slowly in some parts? It's not long, only 20 chapters, but it somehow seemed way too long and way too short all at the same time, speeding by some bits and crawling through others.
Honestly, this book had a load of potential, and that's what the second star is for. The first star is for the first half. If I had to offer some constructive criticism, I would have made this book longer. If some elements were explored further, particularly a certain bit in chapter ten, I feel like it would have been a far better story. More pages means more time to develop the flat characters, not the three leads but the other guys who were thrown in at the last second.
All in all, a slightly enjoyable but flawed read. Here's to hoping that the sequel will be better.

Entertaining Fantasy with a Meaningful Message for Humanity
By Mihir Shah
Don't you wish that you could enter the mind of a terrorist and reroute their thoughts into something positive? How about having the power to make people--especially those that are depressed--happy instead of having them take antidepressants? Better yet, how great would it be to heal illnesses without any medical treatment?
In Donna Labermeier's The Healer's, the main characters have the aforementioned supernatural abilities, and with the guidance of their spiritual advisor, Agostino, are able to use their powers to thwart tragic events ranging from suicides to terrorist bombings.
On the whole, The Healer's is well written with a creative plot that one can like to C.S. Lewis Chronicles of Narnia and the exceedingly popular Harry Potter series. There is a sense of euphoria or optimism within the characters and books that is severely missing from the real world. The book, perhaps subliminally, delivers the message that to fix the world, one must fix their perspective. As the saying goes, two heads are better than one. By combining their powers, the three main characters become a powerful, single entity that is primed to save humanity from its--at times self-created--vices.
The Healer's is a highly recommended read. Stay tuned for the next installment as the main characters continue their adventure in their quest to save mankind.
