Review: I practically cut my teeth on Stephen King, I learned to walk with Dean Koontz, and was reading Edgar Allan Poe, and Hitchcock while learning to ride a bike. These men always scared me, but I LOVED being scared. So when Peter Giglio offered the chance to review this anthology of 'on the job, tales of terror' I though... alright, sounds like some awesome fun. I have since decided that I will never work in an actual office again... why you may ask? I fear the water coolers now, I am scared to death my fingers are going to fuse to my keyboard (even as I'm writing this review), and I'm wondering just how many district managers have come to a store only with the thoughts of taking over the lives of their underlings.

I refuse to sit in my office chair at my desk because I'm scared my spine will magically attach itself to the chair and I'll be stuck there forever, I now sit on the couch with my laptop on... my lap... can you imagine? Well if you can't, read this book and trust me you'll be able to. I have to say this anthology is a collection of some of the most adept and fantastic horror writers I have had the pleasure of reading in a very long time. I loved it from start to finish and all the stories were complete perfection. If you hate work now... just wait until you read this book. You'll want to stay as far away from the office as possible and remember... be wary of the water distributors, they are out to get you whether you realize it or not. Take your own bottled water to work! Do NOT drink out of the water cooler!

Yes... sadly I think I have developed some form of psychosis having read this book. I'm going to take my medication now.

Varied, riveting and atmospheric

Loved this collection. I was gripped by each one of them. Some wonderful twists and great ghostly/paranormal/horror atmosphere. The quality of writing was excellent and the stories varied and riveting enough to keep me entertained for hours. Definitely 5 stars from me!

This anthology has some of the big names in horror as well as some soon-to-be big names. Each story is different. Some are haunting, others gory, while others are flat out hilarious. You cannot go wrong with this book.

Effort is all that matters,BUT...

Research suggests that full range of motion isn't necessary to fully exercise the muscles & stimulate bone density: An intense isometric effort's all that's needed. The problem has been the subjective nature of isometrics: Measuring and tracking intensity & progress used to be impossible, unless dangerously heavy weights were used. Recent developments, such as the "1RepGym" accurately measure effort, -enabling- the tracking of progress, but "Biodensity" alone measures -and- automatically stores & tracks progress. The non-threatening, ultra-safe, short,(5 minute!), sessions may well enable a generation of fully-functional seniors. NONETHELESS, i'm suspicious of the other reviewers here, all positive, all but one,(who has -1- other review), have never reviewed -anything- else. This is red-flag for fake reviews.

Osteogenic Loading

What an incredible machine is the human body. The capacity of the body for adaptive responses capable of repairing a disease like osteoporosis is astounding. Thank you Dr. Jaquish for a genius idea. My wife, who in only six months on your machine has reversed her three year old osteopenia diagnosis and received unbridled praise from her doctor for her recent normal Dexa score, thinks you're pretty special. Next time you cross her path you should be on guard for a big hug. She loves the bonus side effect of her strength improving by 70% in the same 6 months. Me, I love learning why and how it all works. Plus, I'm hoping the American public can break their addiction to prescription drugs and help their bodies heal naturally. The book is great and I highly recommend it.

Please be cautious

My objection to this book is that it implies that one cannot get hurt, and I did. I'm 65 years old, take no medications, cholesterol and BP are low. I do cardio, weights and yoga daily. My doctor believes I'll live to be "a little old lady." So I was pretty strong starting out at OsteoStrong, and quickly progressed to multiples of my body weight in 3 of the 4 exercises. Frankly, I loved the process, but it was hard on my joints. Too much pressure on my feet lead to a painful bout of plantar fasciitis. The final straw was when I got epicondylitis in both elbows. It's been four months since injury and they still hurt. Am frustrated that I can no longer do many of my strength training exercises that I've done for decades. Honestly, I hope this program continues to succeed for others, but I felt compelled to write about my experience because I wish someone had warned me.

Real, Raw and Relevant

What is a Good Man is a thought provoking book that really challenges you to evaluate your thinking on how you define a good man. Although the book is based on the Bible, it is not preachy or "super spiritual". This book is raw, real and very relevant to the issues men and women grapple with today. Pastor Burton goes where few Christian leaders have gone before, and addresses the areas of relationships and manhood and womanhood head on. You will definitely see things differently once your finish it...and maybe save yourself from future disappointments.

Single, married, men, women, adults and teenagers should read this book.

WOW....Truly amazing

This book is one of the most direct and real writings on this subject that I have read. It intrigues one to really evaluate oneself and rise up to be a Good Man as well as shows how to obtain one. This book is for Men and Women, young and old. It transcends beyond all boundaries and classes. As a young man I now understand what a good man should be. I now have a Biblical view point and map to be the best Husband and Father I can be. Please don't get me wrong, this is not a preachy -churchy book. It is very real and down to earth. I promise, you will not be disappointed .

Being a single woman of God, I found this book to be very informative. It taught me essential points about what it means to be a good man. I think Pastor Burton did an exellent job referencing the bible in identifying what a good man is. I would suggest this book to any single man or woman to read.

Superb

This book grabs the reader with its very first line. It is in my opinion, Spellman's best book. It is a historical drama (very accurate on the historical facts) about Ireland and it's long struggle for freedom and independance. It vividly details many of the uprisings, leading up to the Easter Rising of 1916. The reader is introduced to some of the real revolutionaries who were a part the uprising and eventual liberation of Southern Ireland. In addition, the two main characters are sisters who are very different (one is a rebel, the other a conformist) but who share a strong love for each other and their country. This book is about so many complicated issues, and yet it is entertaining and educational. I guess one could say its about the love shared between siblings and family, passionate, romantic love between men and women, and a peoples deep love for their country and hope for independence and freedom. It is one of my favorite books. I made the unfortunate mistake of lending it to a friend who lives in another state. I have not seen it since. I am currently trying my best to get it from Amazon, and I hope they come through for me.

Brilliant on the problems, missing the reality of the two-party tyranny

I received this book as a gift, along with Capitalism 101. Of the two I prefer this one.

On the positive side, both books represent a growing body of citizens who understand that big government is very much alike to central government, and both are forms of fascism / socialism that are bad for the majority.

On the negative side, neither book seems to appreciate the fact that the Republican Party is every bit as corrupt as the Democratic Party.

Being already predisposed to agree with the author on the fundamentals, I found the book interesting but disconnected from a great deal of what I have been working on, including transparency, truth, and trust. Both the Republican and Democratic parties are corrupt; both have been busy borrowing a trillion dollars a year in our name while seeking to regulate our lives into misery.

There is a place for limited government, and a vital role: keeping business honest. Trust lowers the cost of doing business. The two-party tyranny has corrupted America, turned America into The Cheating Culture: Why More Americans Are Doing Wrong to Get Ahead.

The books well researched with many interesting notes, and it has an index [the same is not true of Capitalism 101, which is more like a bunch of personal stories bundled together.]

Where I have a problem with books like this (agreeing with the author on the basics) is in the denial of the raw fact that the Republicans have done as much if not more than the Democrats to loot the Republic, they just work in a different way. It was a Republican, Senator Phil Gramm of Texas, who as banking chairman put in 200 pages of lobbyist written deregulation five minutes before the bill was to be voted on, and it was the other 99 Senators, from BOTH parties, who lacked the integrity to cry foul. It is the Republicans that started the practice of borrowing a trillion dollars a year so they could earmark their way to personal wealth at our expense, charging 5% for each allocation of the public's money to projects we do not need and cannot afford.

We live in a two-party tyranny, and the first thing my fellow lovers of liberty have to get a grip on is that BOTH the Republican AND the Democratic parties are corrupt, have sold us out, and cannot be trusted with the White House in 2012. One reason I am running for the presidential nomination within the Reform Party is because I have concluded that there is nothing wrong with America the Beautiful that cannot be fixed by flushing BOTH parties down the toilet, uniting the Independents, moderates from both parties, the Greens, Libertarians, Constitution, and others in a massive rebirth of a Republic that is Of, By, and For We the People.

So this book, and the Tea Party, are welcome voices, but both need to get a grip on reality: BOTH parties are corrupt, BOTH parties have enabled Wall Street corruption AND Welfare / Socialism corruption. I share the author's view that three fifths or more of the federal government should be shut down, and I advocate a balanced budget and true cost economics as a means of getting all of us back in harmony with reality and one another.

Surprise Book of the Last 18 Months!

It's actually superb and Bart DePalma does a sensational job in explaining contemporary socialist strategy. I never knew what asymmetrical socialism was, but after reading this it explains a great deal of what's going on in 2012.

Great book. Must read. Hard to put down.

I was pleasantly surprised by this book. It turned out to be great. Attorney Bart DePalma does a fantastic job explaining socialism, discussing full socialism, de facto socialism, and asymmetric socialism. He also explains the harm being done by the living wage, social justice, and eco-socialism. He does a wonderful job explaining the 2008 housing crisis. Best of all, I believe what he writes as he included 750 footnotes. He is as scientific and factual as you can get on these topics.

If you are one of those big,burly guys that doesn't want anyone to see you cry I suggest you take this book and read it privately,because if you suffer from any of the issues covered in the book,and 98% of men do,you will cry like a baby as the Holy Spirit works through this book and reveals your past hurts to you.This book is a must for ALL MEN ! Everyone has a father, whether he was there or not and Pastor Dalbey eloquently teaches you how your relationship with your earthly father relates to your relationship with your heavenly Father and with women in your life,and with YOUR SON ! Break the generational curse and be there for your son,your wife,and your God! This book will put you on the path to total healing.

The Single Most Life Impacting Book I've Ever Read !

This book touched my life unlike any other book ever. At first I found myself weeping for myself and hurts and wounds I didn't even know were buried deep down inside me, then I found myself weeping for my father, then his father. Sins that enslaved me & that I'd struggled mightily with for over 30 years have fallen away! I most highly commend this book to all men (and women), especially those hurting or struggling titantically. This book has powerfully impacted the lives of many men in jail.

Great read and will read it again

Gordon's book gave me an incredible amount of insight into what is going today with our children and the issues we have. It also helped me see where i am going wrong with my 3 sons and what i need to do to prevent them from having a father wound or fix any one that i have created. This also brought me closer to my heavenly father. Great read and will read it again!

Best hero book with TWINS!!

The best thing about this book is that the heroes are twins - which means tons of comedy. I love comedy. One of the funniest scenes in the book was when Scooter and Stokely were trying to open "the box" with the password and they only had one chance. The box gave them a riddle and I love how the brother tried to be so smart and then the sister just relaxed and figured it out.

This series is great I can't wait until the next book.

Another cool thing about this book is the Spy Masters - I thought they were fantastic.

A must read for anyone who loves good humor, good spy stuff, and awesome action. . .

Favorite so far

Scooter and Stokely Scabbins may be my favorite characters so far. Not to take anything away from Notch or Starflyer, but these 2 are hilarious. (It's hard to compare the characters, since they are all so different.) From an all-out brawl in a cider bar, to spying on dangerous characters, to being locked up in prison, this book has it all. The fun part is starting with Time Crystal, though. So go read that one if you haven't, and then work your way to book 3. This series is different than anything else out there.

They are at it again...

Book 3 "THe Watchtower Secret" is written and told from such a great angle. From growing up on a pumpkin farm, the Scabbins twins are not afraid to get dirty, and follow their suspicions on some of Hobbles best keep secrets. Book 3 continues to unlock the mystery through the eyes of Scooter and Stokley as they take it upon themselves to carry the responsibly given to them through their discoveries surrounding the mystery of the swampland and the forbidden Watchtower.

Protect Yourself

This book was painful to read,and that's being kind. I felt like this story was a compilation of various life stories all smashed together in one book.Shay's character is one hot mess. I can't tell if she is a girl from the streets who holds her own; because the next minute she's a naive virgin and moments later she's this hip holding,neck twisting girl from the wrong side of the tracks.

I'm not sure what Matty saw in her (other than a quick lay) because as a main character there was nothing exciting or loveable about her even to me as the reader. This street wise girl loses her virginity to a guy from the dinner in a seedy motel seriously?? The story wasn't developed enough at all to even understand why these characters from two different walks of life were attracted to each other. A 33 year old white man, CEO isn't interested in a junior college student/ waitress if there isn't something intoxicating and alluring about her. The author failed to develop this.

The love scenes were unappealing. The first sex scene he is pounding it out with a "virgin". My first thoughts were ouch, she gonna be really sore in the morning. That pretty much set the tempo for the love scenes. Matty didn't seem to be a skilled or steamy lover, and I just wanted it to be over quickly.

In short this novel was an exhaustive swirl of nothingness. This book is written for a ghetto audience with fantasies of a "protector. Shay was too "real", and nothing about Matty was real. This was my first book, and my last with Mallory. The author needs to invest in a good editor for grammar, as well as with plot development and some research on the love habits of successful business men so that she can accurately portray them. Protector yourself and your money...invest in another novel.

Although I liked this book, I was very disappointed with the characters. Matty on one hand can't emotionally separate from his ex of 10 years; although she unashamedly cheats on him and actually tells him that they can just be bed-buddies while she dates the guy she cheated on him with. She is egotistical and a gold-digger, but he still feels as if he owes her.

Shay on the other hand is trying to make her way through college, but has a roommate who is also a shameless slut (with no boundaries when it comes to her friend's man) and has no respect for their shared accommodation, as roomie continues to bring men into their room. Shay also feels that she is in debt to her roommate (due to a previous favor), and gives leeway to roomie's behavior.

Both characters (Matty and Shay), although from different sides of the track, are equally naïve. And this naivety backfires, as they both are cheated out of the life they deserved together. If only Matty had a stronger backbone and washed his hands (entirely) of his no-good cheating ex, and Shay, who raised and supported herself, would have spoken up...the chain of events would have never occurred.

I find it hard to swallow that a millionaire and a tough chick from the streets, didn't have enough common sense to see people for what they were, when it was obvious.
Shoulda, woulda, coulda, I guess.

Started off strongly but then... oy.

I really was into this book when I began it. I liked the initial coming together of Shay & Matty's relationship, I liked Shay overall and I thought the drama with selfish folks trying to mess them up had potential to make it really interesting. And then bam, this book just went off the rails. I have two major gripes and a nitpick.

Gripe 1: Matty is a sucker. Big time. I can't get past that even now that I've finished the book. Sometimes you read a book, the hero screws up but by the end he's redeemed himself. I didn't get that with Matty (plus you don't get to really READ about it since there was more of a 'tell, not show' quality to how things played out with the mess he made of things with his dumb choices). Not that Matty is a bad guy nor a douchebag, but he makes some RIDICULOUSLY STUPID choices that are OBVIOUS TO STEVIE WONDER that he's being a fool about and it made me want to reach through my kindle to smack him a la Cher in 'Moonstruck'.

Gripe 2: The first half of the book is really enjoyable but the latter half when the Matty & Shay reconnect is a hot mess. The pacing is off, the story felt rushed and by the end of the book, I was irritated that she hadn't either made it longer or turned in to a two-parter, with the initial relationship as the first book and the reconnection as the second book. After reading several of the "President's GF" books and "Romancing the Mob Boss" series by Mallory Monroe, I am flabbergasted that she didn't turn this into a series or a duo because this begged for it, if only to even out the pacing and story quality.

Nitpick: I've become forgiving of editing mistakes on ebooks. For whatever reason they seem more prolific in ebooks than in print books, but I've learned to cringe and move on quickly. That said, I can forgive Mallory Monroe for several "You was..." statements from the characters, though I found it highly doubtful that Matty would speak as such, but I refuse to forgive reading "deafly ill". NO. It is deathly. Deathly deathly DEATHLY.

Ok, all that said, it's not a bad book, even with the messiness of the 2nd half of the story but it is not as well-written as her other stuff.

About the Author
Zane M. Massey was born in Kingston, New York to an African-American mother and a Jewish father. He lived there until the age of two with his grandmother while his mother was stationed in Mississippi with the U.S. Air Force. When she returned from active duty, young Zane moved to Harlem, New York. At the age of nine, Zane exhibited an interest in earning his own money while working his first job as a fruit salesman on the back of a local food truck in Harlem. From that point on, he realized that in order to become a highly successful executive or business mogul, you had to have a passion for learning, an interest in entrepreneurship, and most importantly – an education. Zane’s academic and athletic talents led him to Xavier High School in New York City. At Xavier, he excelled in academics as well as in athletics, playing on the varsity basketball team. After high school, Zane attended Clark Atlanta University, where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. While at CAU, he was initiated into Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, a Greek organization exemplifying the ideals of Brotherhood, Scholarship and Service while taking an inclusive perspective to serving the community through its various programs. After graduation, Zane returned to Harlem where he applied for and received a fellowship through Fordham University to teach English and mathematics to seventh and eighth graders. In 2001, Zane received an offer of employment from global insurance company Marsh & McLennan. One of the toughest decisions he had to make was to leave the education profession but he realized that he could not pass up the chance to improve his financial situation while learning invaluable business skills. He accepted Marsh’s offer, working within their Investor Relations department. While at Marsh, Zane obtained a Master’s Degree in Finance from Fordham University’s Executive MBA Program. After parting ways with Marsh, he went on to hold several finance positions with healthcare companies, namely Becton Dickinson and Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics. Outside of Corporate America, Zane aspires to educate the youth about access to various professions while promoting the emotional development of the youth through his first book, entitled “Beyond the Statistics.” He hopes to continue in the footsteps of strong community leaders in their efforts to foster the intellectual, moral and spiritual well-being of inner city youth.

This is a great articulation or reading for everyday people that ever had a question about obtaining success in whatever endeavor they pursue. That tantalizes ones thought subliminal sending a message that inspires oneself to launch forward with their inspiration or valued hopes to believe in self-achievement. Through education and determination, facing the different variables of life that we know is a challenge to bring value to our existence in this society. Excellently researched and interesting book

I have always been interested in the history surrounding witchcraft in New England. "Witch Trials, Legends, and Lore of Maryland" is a well-researched book that gives readers a better understanding of the issues surrounding witchcraft and some of the legends that have persisted over time. This is a great resource for anyone planning to travel to Maryland in the future, but also a fun read for natives of the area. I particular appreciated the time and effort William Cooke went through to properly research this book, as well as the numerous records and newspaper articles he consulted to present this information to the general public.

Well written historical literature

This was a unique book focusing on the practice and legal history of witches in Maryland. Well researched and written, the author leads the reader through Maryland 's less known history of witchcraft while following specific individuals to include the legal perspective which most books do not do. If you enjoy reading historic books, this would be recommended.
