About the Author
Anne P. Mitchell is a nationally recognized fathers’ rights attorney and spokesperson. One of the first fathers’ rights lawyers in the country, with more than 20 years experience in fathers’ rights, Anne has been invited to speak and consult about fathers’ rights issues with judges, state legislators, social workers, and family court workers. Her DadsRights.org website is one of the top fathers’ rights sites on the Internet, and more than 12,000 fathers have benefitted from the material and advice that is now available to the public in this book. Mitchell, a graduate of Stanford Law School, had been involved in fathers' rights even before going to law school, and upon being admitted to the bar opened a private fathers' rights law practice in which she represented fathers only, advocating for their relationship with their children. Mitchell knows her stuff and MOM should too!

She is an expert in this area and it shows in her thoroughness, organization and well thought out explanations. I have referred several people to this book, but not all of them men! I believe it should be required reading for mom's as well. The whole point is looking at things from other's perspectives, especially the children, but mom should understand how it all affects the one they are disaffected from! Mitchell has done a big service here, not just for dads but for whole families.

An informative and insightful resource for newly single dads

As a mom I read this book because I strongly believe in supporting dads in the family court system. It takes maturity and respect in order to put aside differences and focus on the well being of the children. Ms. Mitchell gives single dads the resources they need to make pragmatic decisions. The chapters are conveniently arranged to allow dads to quickly find the information they are looking for. This book will help a single dad sort through all the conflicts that may arise during divorce or separation. It provides the tools dads need to assert themselves to ensure they protect their rights as well as the rights of their children.

Required reading for men going through divorce involving kids

This book provides solid insights from an experienced attorney and fathers' rights advocate about what could go horribly wrong with divorces involving kids. Fortunately, this mostly made me feel better about my own situation as a divorced parent not having to deal with the horrible situations outlined in the book.
The first chapter, which reminds us to put the kids first, applies to everyone. The remaining chapters serve as a reminder that things can get ugly at any time, during or after the divorce, and provide valuable information if you're unfortunate enough to be living through them.
This is a sad topic, but an important one. Thankfully there are people like Anne who are there on the side of fathers.
