Good book

For the first book in the series, this was a very good book. I love this type of writing and am a big fan of both Grafton and Evanovich fan. This book is a good entry into this fray.
I have gone back and looked at "One for the Money" and "A is for Alibi"; they are both nicely written books but the characters took time to develop and mature. "Diva Las Vegas" has a good start on character development and storytelling.
After I finished the book, I checked to see if there were more books available by this author. I guess I'll just have to wait.

Amazingly accurate background!

After I read and enjoyed the book, I did some research on the authors. As far as I can tell, neither one of them has ever lived in Las Vegas. As a 34-year resident, I can tell you that they did their homework on modern day Vegas. They wrote about things that usually only locals know. While the characters were fictional, there were elements of notable residents, both living and dead. If the sequel doesn't include a wealthy young Asian businessman, I'll be really surprised! Not that I have anybody in mind, of course (wink, wink).

I liked the mystery, but...

Raven McShane is a beautiful, 32 year old stripper with a heart of gold and a private investigator's license. She has a hot male mentor/sidekick that she lusts after, but he's not a party-boy type. He's a smart and sexy mormon private investigator who doesn't know that Raven's a stripper. This whole premise takes a whole lot of 'suspending disbelief' for me. The mystery was pretty well done. I didn't guess 'who dunnit' ahead of time. I liked Raven well enough, but I learned much more about lap dances than I ever wanted to know. I'll read more from this author, but probably not this particular series.
