About the Author
Pete Black grew up in southwest Alabama in Monroeville. He is a University of Alabama graduate with degrees in education and engineering. In 2010, he retired from the Alabama River Pulp Company in Monroeville after working 33 years in the pulp and paper industry. Pete and his wife Patsy have been married for 36 years and have four adult children - Jonathan, Robert, Watson, and Anna Katherine. Patsy has served on the Monroe County School Board for the past twelve years and is currently School Board President. Pete is currently employed with Parsons & Whittemore, Inc. as the Alabama Business and Community Development Manager. In this capacity, he works closely with the local economic development authority and local elected officials to attract economic development projects to the region.

Great Book

I highly recommend this book to anyone who is willing to better themselves or simply need a little encouragement. I found this book to be very inspirational, bringing to sight the fact that if you don't have heart and really don't have passion for what you believe in, then the odds of success are far fewer.

I am inspired

I was given this book by a friend and told that I needed to read it. After doing so, I had to come on here and and say how much I loved it. What great stories! Several of them gave me goose bumps. The book is written as easy to read, 1-2 page stories about heroes who overcame the odds to achieve great things. Some are big names that everyone will have heard of, while some are a little more obscure but even more interesting to me since I had never heard their stories. The quote at the end of each section perfectly ties in with the theme from the story. I read it in one sitting, but these stories are short enough that they could also be used as a form of daily devotional.
After reading what these heroes overcame, I feel a bit convicted that I have ever complained about my lot in life. This book profiles numerous people who overcame obstacles that I can't even imagine. The title is very appropriate in that if we will just continue to have hope, to "Never lose heart," there is nothing we can't do.
I would just leave you with this: I dare you to read it and not be inspired. As for me, I'm off to find a mountain to climb!

Hope for All

I recieved Heart Matters: Never Lose Heart as a Christmas gift from my wife and I read the entire book on Christmas day. It consists of one page stories of real life heroes who overcame adversity in their lives. I enjoyed it so much that I bought copies for all of my co-workers. It would make a great part of a daily devotion. I also think it would be a good graduation gift. I have read a large portion aloud to my children. It is an inspirational book.
