About the Author
Christine Kaferly has worked for over twenty years in systems engineering, starting her career in electro-optics. Perhaps her scientific background and engineering work, which has a lot to do with observation, integration, and documentation, has led to her write about her travels. But her love of travel, her interest in history, and her enjoyment of learning are the driving forces in her life. Every spring she is filled with wanderlust, and begins to plan a travel project. Her predilection towards European culture and history does not mean she is limiting herself, but aspires to achieve world-class traveller status. She lives in Colorado, and spends as much time as possible planning trips, travelling, reading, and writing about her travels.

Also includes practical travel tips, such as what to expect in a French grocery store, and what to expect if you slip into a French port-o-potty before the sanitation function kicks in.

My Unguilty Pleasure Read

Ever since I got my hands on this book, I've been savoring each chapter. I like history and I love to travel and Christine marries these topics together perfectly. It's as if I get to follow a brainiac through Southern France on my own private tour. Getting to connect buildings with their history makes this visual tour much more gratifying then reading about "hot spots" or the tourist traps. I can't wait to experience Southern France now that I am armed with historical knowledge. I'm so sad I finished the book, because it was like holding hands with the past, and following a friend through her travels.
