Expressions of hope from real people

In this day of multi media, talking heads and 30 second sound bite bombardment is anyone saying what's really important? And, is anyone listening? Important issues of peace, dignity, social justice and human rights tend to be reported, ignored or buried based on the bias of the media outlet. On the receiving end we are hit with such a resounding amount of sensationalism and hype the dignity of humanity is lost in the chaff of pop culture. This is just one of so many reason's John Nolter's book "A Peace of My Mind" is so important. Offering Nolter's beautiful b&w portrait photos the reader has an opportunity to read each subject's thoughts on peace and human rights in their own words. No hype, no sensationalism. Rather, everyday folks expressing their thoughts, solutions and hope. Perfect "food for thought" as you curl up with your tea or coffee and enjoy this beautiful book.

A rare find that can be enjoyed in many ways

This is a beautiful book that will touch the reader over and over again. It's about peace and much more. Each essay provides food for thought and expands your world view. The interviews subjects reflect the world we live in - a range of religions, incomes, race, education. The photos of each person are gorgeous and thoughtful. The book is designed so it can be experienced in several ways. You can look through it to appreciate the images or the inspiring quotes. When you have more time, you can enjoy a few essays at a time. It can be read in any order which makes it easy to pick up and it would be good for inspiring dialogue in a book club or classroom. For anyone interested in gaining a deeper understanding of fellow human beings this is the perfect book. I've read it a few times and I will be giving it to others.

I'll have the Peace please

a peace of my mind is a compilation of wonderful photos combined with the real perspectives of real people young and old. It is concise and easy to read and transcends the social boundaries we find in life. It makes a simple case and an honest appeal for peace. It presents the question that every one of us should be asking of ourselves and offers a moment to pause and examine how we all can contribute not only to a peacful existence on earth but how our seemingly inocent lives contribute to a lack of peace. I think we all owe it to ourselves and our children to pick up this book and read it.
