Getting To Know Jesus Deeper.

We've all had friends come and go. People are the same everywhere around the world, imperfect sinners yet loved by Jesus.

Marie McGaha has done a wonderful job of explaining how Jesus accepts and loves His people and desires a personal relationship with them. She explains and answers many questions that people can come up with. She does this in practical ways with scripture that can be applied. There is nothing new under the sun and each generation deals with the same things, namely sin, under different guises.

I recommend this book for all ages, even small children. It's good for parents to read this to them because it generates questions and very clear concise answers. As soon as a child starts school, different opinions come into their world. Which is the right answer? Parents will be surprised as they read to their children that Marie has explained away false ideas that have crept into all of our lives. This book can be geared to any age.

"Poof"! The myths and lies of our generation are blown away by scriptures that God wants us to know.

As the book patiently teaches a sinful reader, he or she learns of a loving person who takes the time to listen to someone who wishes to be their best friend forever.

Marie doesn't preach to readers, she shares her heart and personal experiences to get right to the "root" of life.

An inspiring testimony, well worth reading!

When God Talks It's Time To Listen- is a well written, inspiring message of God's love, mercy, and faithfulness, even in times of trouble. I appreciate the author's inspiring testimony, and her honesty about her own personal struggles. I also appreciate that she focuses on the most important message, the message of salvation. She doesn't get lost in a bunch of doctrinal debates, she just focuses on leading souls to Christ. I appreciate that much of her message revolves around passages of scripture, and is not based on personal opinions or feelings. As with most books, there are a couple of minor points I disagree with, but overall, the book was inspiring to me and helped me find strength in a trying time for my family. Thank you, Marie McGaha.

Too short, too little

While I have totally enjoyed other of Buhner's books, this one was disappointing. It contains a cute description of his experience collecting pine pollen, chapters full of the healthy molecules contained in pine pollen and their healthful effects (reads like the back of a bottle or a research report), a recipe to make pine pollen tincture and three recipes to use it as food in pancakes, etc. (hint: just replace some of the flour in your pancakes) along with a general thumbs-up for pine pollen. I was expecting more of the spiritual understanding of people and plants I found in his other books. I was expecting to hear about how he has used it and its results on real people. The book was short, way too short and most of it was the results of his research about scientific properties of same, stuff I suppose I could find on internet. It wasn't personal, it wasn't real and it contained far too little. But I will continue to read more of Buhner.

Excellent dual book of understanding. Easy for the layperson with chapters on chemical components for the compounding herbalist to fascinating sections for the nutritional ust and traditional herbalist to master herbalist.
Easy reading with parts that some will either skip or wade through. If I were teaching; this would definitely be one of the texts that I'd use.

A goldmine concerning all-things-writing

If you've been searching for a goldmine concerning all-things-writing you need look no further. Really, working through this book in what ever order will best serve your learning or practicing needs is certain to improve your skills. I love writing and participate in writing in one form or another almost every day. Yet, as I recently spent time working through just two different exercises as set forth in this book I learned new skills.

The author suggests that moving out of one's comfort zone is a good way to improve skills and gain writing experience. At first I wondered why I would try something that I've believed would be too hard for me. My writing typically focuses on the here and now, facts and information. Yet, I took pen in hand (later went to the keyboard) and began the first exercise in the beginning section of Writing Fiction.

My first hesitant steps were soon overcome by the exhilaration I felt when I began to realize that my imagination was kicking in. I was beginning to see scenes in my mind which I could translate to paper. I was setting the scene for a fictional account which I could make "real" by continuing to follow the steps as laid out in this book.

As another part of my experiment I followed one of the prompts which was more suited to what I usually write about. Once again, I felt as if I had found gold. Ms. Donovan's simple step by step system and suggested tactics do indeed serve to make the writing experience quite productive. With these easy to follow instructions and suggestions long time writers and beginners alike are given ways to improve their writing. Period.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who really wants to learn more about the art and science of writing.

Andrea Funk began making T-shirt quilts in 1992 when her sister arrived at her home with a bag full of T-shirts. At that time she had been making traditional and had no idea how to make a T-shirt Quilt. She asked her sister how to make it and her sister said that she did not care. Out of that request for a T-shirt Quilt Andrea developed the Too Cool T-shirt Quilt method.

More than expected

Granddaughter had many, many tee shirts from grades 1 thru highscool. She played several sports and kept all her shirts. For her graduation present I wanted to make her a Tee Shirt quilt. Found this book at Amazon and was able to make her 3 different quilts. She loved them all.. Her mother showcased them at her Graduation Party and all her friends were amazed and of course wanted me to make them one as they had endless Tee Shirts in the bottom of their closet. Could not have done it without this book. It is concise, extremely explanatory and best darn book on Tee Shirt Quilts out there. I have been sewing for over 60 years (mostly quilts} but this was new territory for me. This book explained every step so precisely, nobody could not make a quilt from this book. I have given this book to several friends as gifts and they were ever so thankful. Can you guess? I highly recommend this book to anyone who has a closet full of Tee Shirts. The finished products are simply "Works of Art" you won't regret buying it, and the price is awesome....

I made my daughter a t-shirt quilt for college with this book.

I decided to make a t-shirt quilt for my daughter to take to college with her, even though I had not sewed since before she was born. I bought the first edition of this book and also two other books on t-shirt quilting and read through them. The three books recommended varying systems and styles for t-shirt quilts. I liked this one the best - you make a mosaic of different size blocks cut from the t-shirts. This style has enabled me to make the quilt the equivalent of a scrapbook - I have used logos and pictures and slogans from my daughter's school, sports teams, vacations, volunteer activities, and concerts, etc. The Too-Cool T-Shirt Quilt book has guided me through the entire process. It is very clear and well organized, and has distinct chapters on planning the quilt, cutting the t-shirts, laying-out the quilt, and actually sewing it, etc. There are also very helpful photographs demonstrating the different tasks. I am about 80% of the way done with the quilt, and I couldn't have done it without the inspiration and step-by-step directions in this book.

Awesome t-shirt quilts and quilting on website

I have started to make my first small t-shirt quilt a couple of weeks before I found the Too cool t-shirt quilt website and this book. The design of a Too cool quilt is so much different than other t-shirt quilts I've seen on the internet and I really like them best. The quilting is awesome. I wish I had found the website before cutting my t-shirts.
I am very very impressed by the look of the Too cool t-shirt quilts, their fabric arrangement and quilting. The book gives great instructions on how to choose fabric and everything. Andrea Funk suggests longarm quilting or tying for her quilts. What about handquilting? My own quilt, which has lightweight fusible webbing btw, will be handquilted. Therefore I wished to find some more instructions and inspiration on the quilting in the book. But there are only very few pictures that show the quilting, so not much help. Also I am a little disappointed because all pictures are black and white, not one color picture (my front and back cover is blurry).
Making a t-shirt quilt without fusible webbing? I am not sure if I will give it a try.
My conclusion is that if one has some sewing/quilting expierience, no need to buy this book. I highly recommend the website for lots of color pictures and inspiration.

About the Author
Philip K. Dick (1928-1982) was an American science-fiction novelist, short-story writer and essayist. A contemporary of Ursula K. Le Guin, Dick's first short story, "Beyond Lies the Wub," was published shortly after his high-school graduation. Many of Dick's works drew upon his personal experiences with drug abuse, addressing topics such as paranoia and schizophrenia, transcendental experiences and alternate reality, and the childhood death of his twin sister is reflected through the recurring theme of the "phantom twin" in many of his novels. Despite ongoing financial troubles and issues with the IRS, Dick had a prolific writing career, winning both the Hugo Award and the Nebula Award multiple times. Some of his most famous novels and stories--A Scanner Darkly, "The Minority Report," "Paycheck," and Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? (adapted into the film Blade Runner)--have been adapted for film. Dick died in 1982.

Excellent Anthology of Early Philip K. Dick

This is a good anthology of Philip K. Dick's early short fiction. A number of stories ("The Defenders," "The Gun," "Mr. Spaceship") begin to explore the theme of machines replacing-- or becoming indistiguishable from-- humans, which Dick later used in his great novel "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?" (later made into the brilliant film "Bladerunner"). The excellent novelette "Second Variety" was also made into a movie, albeit not a very good one, "Screamers." "Second Variety" continues to explore the machines as humans theme, and also adds in the difficulty of distinguishing reality from illusion, which became a major recurrent theme in Dick's later novels. This collection also includes the brilliant short story "The Skull," one of the best science fiction stories to grapple with the theme of religious truth.

Halcyon does their usual good job here-- the Kindle book has a linked table of contents and few to no typos.

Genius! Track down a used copy

If you've never read Philip K Dick, this collection of short stories is a great place to start. The first two stories in the collection (his first 2 published stories) aren't the greatest, but from the third story on it's one brilliant gem after the other. I read this book 3 months ago and it's still with me. "Electric Ant" is perhaps the best SF short story I've ever read. I've read several of Dick's novels but these short stories are better!

If you already like PKD, you will like this collection of short stories. For a sci-fi newbie, this may not be a good place to start since his stories may feel dated. It' s a good collection and a great value on kindle.

I was from Hades

Speaking as a 23 year old female diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder 2 years ago, I found that whilst reading this book i had mixed feelings. As a person with similar issues to that which "Hades" is displaying, I sometimes found it hard to read on. i guess I found it somewhat hurtful in its truthfulness but I think that's why this book is so good. It gave me an insight into the destruction and devastation that as a person with Borderline Personality Disorder, I need to see and realise.
It had me at points wondering if an ex boyfriend of mine had written it, elaborated a few stories and wrote a blog, but reading on I calmed my Borderline irrationality and tried to imagine the world through the perspective of the Non-BPD. This book was difficult for me to read and accept but ultimately it is a true account of what it is like to be in a relationship with someone with this diagnosis. I almost want to give a copy to any potential boyfriends as the ultimate test to see if i'm worth pursuing but thats just the Borderline in me talking!

Hilarious!

This book was really good. When I got it, I didn't realize how long it was, I expected a short story. The nicknames for his girlfriend "Hades", and all of her friends (like White Trash Looking Actor, Whacked Out Neighbor, etc.) really kept me giggling. The only thing I didn't like about the book was the timeline. I stayed confused about what happened when. After I decided to just go with it anyway, I found that it was easier to read. The snapshots of the emails and texts really put this book in a my "cool" category. At one point in the book, I started thinking "Wow, all this and he is still with Hades? Is he stupid or what?". Within 2 pages, a new chapter started that went like "You are probably thinking 'why is he still with her'..." That was just perfect! This guy's story is great and is most realistic! I don't doubt any of what is in the book, not even blown up for book purposes. Great story!

Right on the borderline mark

Anyone who has dealt with a borderline personality will appreciate this book. It is written in the first person with a wry style that makes it an easy read. "Girlfriend from Hades" may not be great classic literature, but it hits the mark in terms of defining the inconsistent and dangerously engaging style of someone with borderline personality disorder. Even when you know it is the wrong thing to do, you stay involved because of the constant adrenaline rush associated with borderlines. Christopher Smith does an excellent job describing the highs and lows that come from being in this type of a destructive relationship. If you are involved with someone who has borderline personality disorder - whether girlfriend, family member or business partner - you should read this book.
