A good bathroom read

Beautiful photos and inspiring quotes, as promised. I would have liked a little more meat to the book to give it some depth or some context. I thoroughly enjoyed reading the contributors' bios towards the end of the book.

Wish proceeds from this book would benefit supporting youth travel or travel for those who otherwise couldn't afford it.

Overall I'd recommend it to other travel folk!

Do not buy this book in the kindle version. The print edition is excellent but the kindle version is seriously deficient The pages are too small with no way to increase their size so many readers will have to use a magnifying glass.

Paul Engleman is the author of eight novels, including Dead in Center Field, winner of the Private Eye Writers of America SHAMUS award and Japan's FALCON award. His other books featuring New York detective Mark Renzler include Catch A Fallen Angel, Murder-in-Law, Left for Dead, and Who Shot Longshot Sam? A second series, with Second City sleuth Phil Moony, includes The Man With My Name and The Man With My Cat. A two-time winner of the Peter Lisagor award given by the Society of Professional Journalists, Engleman's articles, essays and interviews have appeared in numerous publications, including AARP, Playboy, Chicago magazine, the Chicago Tribune, Crain's Chicago Business, the Chicago Reader, the Huffington Post, and The Rotarian. His weekly column Diary of a Dad Housewife ran in the Chicago Sun-Times. Originally from Wayne, New Jersey, Engleman attended Beloit College in Wisconsin. He lives in Chicago with his wife and two sons.

Who Shot Long Shot Sam
The book is a murder mystery story about gamblers who bet on horse races. Long Shot Sam is one of the best gamblers around the horse tracks. He is a master at handicapping on each race which makes him one of the best. While he is well on his way to winning a betting tournament, he is shot by a snipers bullet. The contest is filled with ex-cons, jealous rival gamblers, crooked cops, armed security men, and corrupted politicians.
Most of the story takes place in northern New Jersey at the Garden State Downs horse track. Its not a fancy, high class track, its no where near as nice as other big time tracks in Chicago and Kentucky.
I liked this book because of the action. Whether it was the gambling or murder, I was pretty interested. The intensity of the book was good and kept me excited. Some parts of the beginning may not be to interesting because they go into details on the way the betting is done and how all the handicaps work for each horse in the race. Other then that, the book is very interesting.
One moral lesson in this book would be "don't trust everyone around you". Also in this book, no matter how legal it is to gamble, there can always be danger when people start losing things they deeply value.
This book was better then some of the other mystery stories that I've read because it's not the typical murder story which is played out all the time. I would defiantly recommend this book for any age group.

Yehuda Lieberman is a practicing psychotherapist in New York. He has published articles in the Jewish Press and on various mental health websites. He graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Touro College in New York in 1995 and received the psychology award at graduation. He graduated with an MSW from Yeshiva University's Wurzweiler School of Social Work in New York in 1997. Upon graduation, he worked as a psychotherapist in both clinic and practice settings. In 2001, he began his private psychotherapy practice in New York. He lives in New York with his wife and four children.

game changer

This book has changed my whole outlook on life. It is concise written with humor and very realistic. While being unconventional it definitely can be used in real life instances. As someone who has self esteem issues I highly recommend this book. The only con I could think of is it should have been a bigger book.

I love this book! I normally stick with the sci-fi/fantasy series books,(I know this is a series but the main characters change) but this book was so good. I would love this to have been a series based on the two main characters,but the author did a wonderful job with this storyline. in the past five years I have read 750 books ( at the least) majority of which are series books (same main characters through out) out of the books that don't continue on I can only recall one by Kristin Hannah and this one is just as good if not better. I look forward to reading other books by this author. It was refreshing to read a love story without the need to go into extreme intimate detail. This is one that will go on my favorites list to pick up again.

Wow. Expect me to rave and gush about Fisher and all of her awesomeness!

First line from the book:
"I was sitting next to one of the most beautiful girls I'd ever seen in my entire life. She was so intriguing, I could actually feel the sweat dripping down the back of my neck at the effort it was taking to keep from staring at her."

How can you not want to pick up this book after that!?

This book....ah. I can't even begin to describe it. The pace and flow were perfect. It was so hard to put down. It was one of the sweetest books I've ever read in my life! It was also one of the saddest, gut-wrenching books ever. But that part of it was from circumstances around and happening to the characters, not the characters stupidity or messing up things.

Callum & Harper were utterly real, adorable, sweet, feisty, caring, and two people I want to get to know for real. I want to invite them to Christmas dinner and kick some ace for them and tell everyone who keeps pushing them around to screw off! I loved them both to the point of giddyness, which is seriously rare for me. Callum was sweet and caring for everyone but super protective; my three favorite qualities in a yummy guy.

The reason they danced around each other the whole book was the most heartbreaking of all. They'd been kicked to the curb by everyone their whole life, so why risk it with the one person, literally, in the whole world that loves you and needs you just as much as you need them? I totally got it and Fisher totally worked it to just the right amount.

And when they finally did get together?? HOLY SMOKES!!! Fireworks.

If you enjoy love stories, stories that tug that artery in your chest, stories that bring light to human situations, stories that show that love really is all that matters in the now and in the end, I would definitely recommend this clean, fresh, inspiring book to you.

My favorite line in the book is from Callum :"Each time you sit next to me on the train, warm and folded into me, I have to force my hands to stay buckled at my side, to keep from seizing you. When we study on the sofa, your feet in my lap, it's everything in me not to drag your body onto mine and kiss you senseless. Every time I've placed my lips on your neck, I've imagined guiding those lips up your soft skin until they reach your mouth and owning that mouth with my own, possessing you with my tongue, Harper."

Imagine your life's purpose predetermined before you were even born? Before Au Set was born her mother had planned all she was to be.  As the first born of an ancient legacy in a land called Eshnunna her life was all designed theologically before she was even born as the oldest daughter of a Goddess Representative of the temple for Inanna named Ninnuit.  She was born to a land older than Babylon and even older than Sumer.  The first in line to an ancient destiny older than recorded history.  However, the world had something different planned. As a tribe of men came down with a vengeance to destroy all of the Goddess cults and all those involved, Au Set and her family knew their numbers alone would not assure their survival. To keep their world and legacy alive her mother Ninnuit had to think fast to save them all.  What she came up would not only save their family and their traditions but to line her family up in the creation of a culture that would shake the world-that of a land far to the south.  A land of a long and endless river that provided life inside a vast desert. Au Set and her siblings were sent to create a new dynasty in hopes of preserving her family legacy.  They went to a land called Kemet.  And there, Au Set and her siblings would learn to fight to protect all they have ever known and cherished and to forge creatively something new and possibly more powerful than ever their heritage had ever been.  Her siblings became as legendary as she in the pages of history for they created what we know of Egypt and its mystery of a culture that lasted almost untouched for over three thousand years.  She and her twin sister Neb Het (Nepthys) each took half of the strange and raw land of Kemet to rule over with their brothers Set (Suti) and Au Sar (Osiris).  They had to leave their impact over a dying ancient tradition that they arrived to while still very young and afraid from all they left behind.  They saw a rough world of ritual and religious cannibalism and animal worship.  Together they conquered the first and built on the second and made it their own as temple and tomb paintings had been found of such. Their brother Tehuti (Thoth) founded writing and Au Sar brought Kemet agriculture and many more things were brought to light to this land untouched that would last millenniums after.  The children of a lost culture alone in a vast wilderness striving to survive and to start something the world would never forget-Egypt.

Their lives were so epic they were not only deified as their culture permitted after their literal deaths-but a mythology that is still legendary over five thousand years after their actual lives.  Again, the author was inspired by this beautiful and epic mythology and sought to find out how it came to be and what might have brought such wonders that lasted and remained intact for so long even to modern times, over five thousand years later.  She researched all she could find on the ancient mythology and put it into a time before history was written down and gave it reason.  This historical novel is based on mythology, yet like the childhood game of telephone-she deducted there had to be some truth in the very beginning that led to such an amazing culture.  The novel takes place in the Gerzaen II phase of archaeology as a base in 3500 BCE, yet myth flood the very shores and led to inspiration in skillfully adding the two together to create this wonderful tale.  Adventures and challenges meet them at every step and the fear of war lurked their every morning of how to survive in such infinite wilderness with a people so promising and waiting for some type of order. This family from Eshnunna brought it to them in abundance.

About the Author
She and her daughters have moved to the rural foothills of Maine from the bustling Southeastern Massachusetts area where they were raised, in search of a better life and a refreshing new pace. She is the present owner of "Meadow Brook Farm & Studio". The artist and owner, Sharon; specializes in children's portraits and hats made in an ancient technique from her herd of Icelandic Sheep. She has many years experience as a paralegal and insurance which has only aided her research skills. She currently has a career in Finance as well as being an historical fiction novelist. She wears many hats and even the ones she makes from the wool of her own Icelandic sheep!
