A goood read for new teachers who may be struggling with various issues in their new classrooms. I enjoyed the emphasis the author put on the importance of making a connection with students. As a teacher, I agree that kids will do anything for you if they know you care.

Great for new and veteran teachers!

Whether your giving consideration to becoming a teacher, are a new teacher, or a crusty old veteran teacher (like me)...So You Say You Want To Teach is a great book for all. It becomes very easy with the day to day struggles of teaching to forget just why I wanted to be a teacher in the first place. Mr. Strother's book has helped me to reflect and renew/refresh my desire to be the best teacher that I can be each and every day. I highly recommend this book for all of us who teach whether in the classroom, on the field, or at home.

Dave McSpadden is a Professional Speaker, Author, Trainer, Seminar Leader and the Founder and C.E.O of RethinkAge Institute, LLC. and RethinkAge.com. Born and raised in San Angelo, Texas, his model of serving others was learned from his parents and experiences in Scouting where he earned both the God and Country Award and the rank of Eagle Scout. After graduating from high school and a tour in the U.S. Army, he attended San Angelo College, majoring in Business. Dave had a 40-year career in commercial construction, the last 26 of those years as President and C.E.O. of his own company. Since joining the Rotary Club of Waxahachie (Texas) in November 1984, he has served his Club, Rotary International and his community in many leadership offices. Dave is honored to have served the North Central Texas Clubs of Rotary International District 5810 as District Governor in the Rotary Year 2009-10 and he is an Assistant Regional Coordinator for Rotary International, serving Rotary Districts in Texas and Oklahoma. Transforming experience

At a recent Rotary luncheon, our speaker was Dave McSpadden. I was so taken by his presentation that I went onto Amazon.com that very evening to purchase his book. I really had no idea of what to expect from the book. I, like millions of others, have bought books and CD's and attended some of the motivational seminars presented by authors mentioned in Dave's book, Gonna Jump? Why? Because I wanted to find help in improving certain areas of my life - from business to recreation to how I interacted with my family and friends. Dave seems to have digested the ideas and directions of those brilliant authors and pulled it all together in a way that made sense to me and that I could actually use as an everyday guide on how to improve my life. If you're interested in actually keeping a few or even one of your New Years' resolutions, I highly suggest you read Dave McSpadden's Gonna Jump? You just might find it to be a transforming experience...it has been for me!

Jill McCabe Johnson is the director of Artsmith, a nonprofit to support the arts. She is the recipient of the Paula Jones Gardiner Award in Poetry, and Pushcart nominations for her poetry, fiction, and nonfiction. Her work has appeared in journals such as The Los Angeles Review, Iron Horse Literary Review, Brevity, and Harpur Palate. She earned her MFA from Pacific Lutheran University, and is pursuing a PhD in English at the University of Nebraska.

The stories and poems move me, amuse me, disturb me, cause me to think about my own becoming. Amazing variety on a single topic. I recommend it to any woman who wants to understand herself and other women better.

Beautiful collection about humanity and the struggles and strengths of people.

Let me give you a little back ground. I am a man's man. I am a heavy equipment operator. I have tools. I fix things and watch action movies. I eat my steak rare, and I don't much like quitters. I was absolutely moved by this masterpiece about the human condition, of which all of the authors are women. I believe the collector of these pieces sincerely did a fantastic job. I now have a better appreciation of women and the challenges they face. Every story is a unique, deep shade of womanhood. I hope you add this book to your lists of books to read!
