From Publishers Weekly
Questions of identity are at the heart of Jacobson's follow-up to the suspense thriller False Accusations. Unfortunately, despite an unexpected twist at the end, those questions are trapped in a by-the-numbers plot. As the novel begins, three men have disappeared. Michael Chambers, husband of Placerville, Calif., therapist Dr. Lauren Chambers, hasn't returned from a weekend ski trip. In Washington, D.C., well-connected murderer Anthony Scarponi has recently been released from prison pending a new trial. Performing surgery on himself to remove the tracking device implanted in his body, Scarponi sets out to kill Harper Payne, the former FBI agent whose testimony initially convicted him. Payne, meanwhile, has disappeared from the witness protection program. Lauren's search for her husband links the other two disappearances, as she and private investigator Nick Bradley travel to Virginia, where they discover that Michael was involved in a car accident. Suffering from amnesia and a bullet wound in the leg, Michael is being chased by FBI agents who think he is Payne. When the agents find Michael, they convince him that he is, in fact, Payne, and reenlist him in the hunt for Scarponi. Every character harbors either a hidden agenda or a paranoid suspicion in this overworked, undercooked tale, fated to try the patience of even the most charitable of thriller fans. 6-city author tour. (Feb.)Forecast: The best thing about this book is its title, and that's not enough to prompt potential buyers to make it come true.

From Library Journal
Psychologist Lauren Chambers must overcome her agoraphobia and panic attacks to search for her missing husband, Michael. From Placerville, CA, to Washington, DC, she travels with Nick Bradley, a private investigator who knows how to stay cool under pressure and ferret out the information they need. Michael Chambers has amnesia caused by an accident and has fallen into the hands of FBI agents, who tell him that he is a former undercover agent now in the witness protection program because of testimony he gave against Anthony Scarponi. One of the most dangerous assassins in the world, Scarponi has been released from prison on a legal technicality and is out to kill the man who betrayed him and anyone else who gets in his way. From beginning to end, Jacobson (False Accusations) never falters in his handling of suspense and the multiplot story. The characters are alive and the events credible to anyone who reads or watches the news. Jacobson has created a book that is impossible to put down and should be added to all fiction collections.

From Booklist
Dr. Lauren Chambers, a psychologist who is also a recovering agoraphobic with acute anxiety attacks, relies heavily on her husband, Michael, to keep daily life on an even keel. When Michael goes missing after a ski trip, Lauren shakily attempts to discover his whereabouts and encounters other groups with the same intention. Jacobson's fast-paced thriller swings a wide arc from CIA operatives and FBI investigators to the violent fantasies of a disturbed patient to the psychological instability of the doctor herself. Things are never quite what they appear to be, creating suspense that is intensified by the fact that readers can't tell whether Lauren's perceptions are skewed by her neuroses or are actually keen insights. Hunters become the hunted and vice versa as the plot takes hairpin turns until nearly every character's motives are suspect. Jacobson keeps readers guessing right up until the last page, so trying to put this book down is like trying not to eat the last chocolate chip cookie: most of us will just give in. Suzanne Young

A wild ride...
By Rochelle
This is the first book by Alan Jacobson I have read - it was a good book and I am looking forward to reading his first book.
THE HUNTED begins with Lauren Chambers upset about her husband's late return from a weekend with his frat buddies. She goes to the police after 48 hours only to find that they have other more high profile cases to focus in on. She is pursuaded to go to a Neighborhood Watch meeting to rally the community to help her. During the meeting she meets a private detective who volunteers to help her.
Meanwhile, her husband turns up on the East coast - shot in the leg and he has amnesia. He cannot remember a thing about his past...and the FBI is looking for him.
This provides the foundation for a suspenseful book that reads like a roller coaster - never knowing what is next. It twists and turns just when you think you know what is going on. The only reason I gave it four out of five stars is that there are a couple of story items that didn't seem possible. A great book nonetheless - I would recommend it to others.

sUSPENSE IN SLOW MOTION
By Sandra D. Peters
The book is filled with twists and turns as Dr. Lauren Chambers, a professional therapist, goes in search of her husband, Michael, who fails to return home from a skiing trip. That is just the first step into a world of mystery, suspense and the unknown. "Hunted" is filled with excitement and the unexpected but at a slower pace than anticipated. There were parts that seemed to drag on like a soap opera in an attempt to prolong the story. Overall, it was still a book worth reading, although it lacked the punch and pace of Jacobson's "False Accusations."

Couldn't finish it
By C. Glenn
Check this one out from your public library and save yourself $4.99. If your library uses Overdrive, you can borrow the kindle edition.

I couldn't get past page 5. This book contains numerous examples of bad writing: adverbs and adjectives everywhere to prop up weak verbs and nouns (respectively), info-hiding, direct (as opposed to clever or original) dialogue, and no actual setup of a plot. I could not sympathize or identify with either character--I was simply bored. Jacobson tries to make up for this with shock. Yawn. As soon as I saw "decimated" used as if it meant "obliterated," I deleted it from my Kindle.
