About the Author
Rod Stafford is Senior Pastor of Fairfax Community Church. Over the past twenty-four years the congregation, located just outside Washington D.C., has grown from 100 to over 2,000 in weekend worship attendance. Stafford knows firsthand the frustration and heartache that occur when the decision-making ethos of a local church is unhealthy. His passion is to help local congregations examine the way they make decisions in order to increase their kingdom impact in the world.

A practical and compelling book that addresses ineffective hierarchy and leadership structures.

Free to Lead is a practical church leadership book that draws from Rod's rich experience in vocational ministry as well as his in-depth research on healthy growing churches. Written in casual language with a scientific research framework, the book is easy to read and presents compelling evidence as to why a collaborative hierarchy is more effective than a traditional hierarchy. Rod lives out the advice and collaborative model found within the pages of this book and has done so with incredible success. I highly recommend this book to church and ministry leaders that are fed up with ineffective hierarchy and leadership structures that hinder the progress and undermine the success of the organization.

Great book. Rod writes from real experience and leads a church that has not only grown significantly over the years but has a great reputation in the community for the work they do. This book is very practical for pastors, church staff and leaders. Our church is using it as we go through the incorporation process and make some changes to our leadership and decision making structure.
